The impact that this assignment had on my understanding of the world was that even though people are stubborn they can be changed. This changed my assumption that people are who they are. Many people have bad behaviors but I learned, through this assignment and operant conditioning, that we can change those behaviors with enough persistence.
I went through a major process doing this assignment. I had to day by day try to change my sister's behavior by taking away one clean dish for every dirty dish that she left around the house. I faced many challenges in doing this experiment. I had to live with dirty dishes all over my house and I also had to hide clean ones all over my room. I got through this by telling myself that it would be over soon. I decided to choose this assignment for my E-Portfolio because it was an interesting experiment for me to conduct. I really enjoyed this experiment because I saw results from it. I believe that this assignment gave me a better understanding of operant conditioning and how it works in everyday life.
